A beautiful look-book and survey of architecture designed by Paul R. Williams. Most of the photos and illustrations showcase the completed projects designed by Williams. Text is concise and mostly comprises quotes and captions. Paul R. Williams (1894-1980) was an African-American architect who is best-known for the private homes he designed for celebrities in Los Angeles. He designed over 3,000 projects during his career. In addition to residential architecture, Williams designed commercial buildings, hotels, retail stores, and buildings for schools and universities. Williams broke barriers by being one of the few African-American architects in the United States at the time as well as being the first African-American member and Fellow of the American Institute of Architecture (AIA).
