Poe’s work often explored themes of death, madness, and the supernatural, and his troubled personal life—including struggles with poverty, illness, and loss—deeply influenced his writing. William Sharp was an Austrian cartoonist who used his platform as an artist for political activism during the Cold War era. He created illustrations, etchings, and lithographs.
The Limited Editions Club was founded by publisher George Macy in 1929 with goal of delivering a monthly fine press edition of great works in literature, religion, history, philosophy, and poetry. The press worked with some of the best printers in the US and Europe, and sought the best artists to illustrate runs of 1500 or 2000 copies.
