Facsimile reprint of _The Pencil of Nature_, the first commercially published work to be illustrated by photographs. _The Pencil of Nature_ was originally published in six parts or fascicles between 1844 and 1846. The entire book contained 24 calotype prints pasted in by hand. The book was the brainchild of William Henry Fox Talbot (1800-1877), an English scientist and the inventor of the salted paper and calotype processed in photography. Includes an Introduction by Colin Harding. Introduction is followed by the facsimile reprint of The Pencil of Nature. Published by KWS Publishers in association with the National Media Museum.
