Published on the occasion of an exhibition, _Wayne Thiebaud: Clowns_, which showed at the Paul Thiebaud Gallery in San Francisco from 2019-2020 and the Laguna Art Museum in Laguna Beach from 2020-2021. Wayne Thiebaud (1920-2021) was an American Bay Area artist who is perhaps best-known for his paintings of everyday objects, such as cakes, pies, and gumball machines. Thiebaud also painted landscapes and portraits. Whether they be still lifes, landscapes, or portraits, many of his paintings feature a light backdrop with a rainbow array of pastel colors.
