The subjects of this show were "art kites" made by a different artists from around the world. In April 1987, the Goethe Institute of Osaka had invited about 100 internationally renowned artists to create their version of an "art kite." These kites then took to the skies in April 1989 and each successfully returned to earth intact. The traveling exhibition showcased these kites. Catalogue includes brief essays about each artist and their kite, a concise history of East Asian kiting, and many printed color photographs of the artists' kites, some of which are shown in their inaugural flight.
