Beautiful monograph featuring Running Fence, a temporary art installation made by the famous husband-and-wife artist duo, Christo (1935-2020) and Jeanne-Claude (1935-2009). Running Fence was a fence made of white nylon fabric (a sample of which is tipped in to this book), cables, and steel poles that weaved its way through the hills of Sonoma and Marin Counties, California. Christo made his initial drawing for the art installation in 1972, but it took several years to complete and was finished on September 10, 1976. The fence was purposely removed only 14 days later. Front colophon: "This volume is one of a special edition limited to 2159 copies signed by Christo. In addition there are 841 hors de commerce copies for the use of the artist and the publishers numbered HC 1-841. This is copy number 287."
