Beautiful monograph about Lyonel Feininger (1871-1956), a German-American painter and leading figure of the Expressionist movement. Notably, Feininger was Walter Gropius's first faculty appointment at the Bauhaus school in Germany and was the lead faculty member in charge of the printmaking workshop. In 1936, Feininger fled to the United States after the Nazi takeover. In the U.S., Feininger achieved much critical acclaim for his work as a visual artist.
