Masters, Scott, Amsterdam:Le Salon International for Nova Studios, Hollywood, CA, 1979- 1980s.

Lot of ten rare promotional magazines for Nova Studio produced from stills of "loop" 8mm films directed by Scott Masters under the name Robert Walters. Themed issues in series, A Nova Sports Special, cowboy series and construction site. All magazines feature black-and white and full color images with playful backgrounds and plots usually involving a chance encounter in a typically straight space that advances to Olympian-level coitus.  Masters solved the problem of synced sound, which enabled him to charge a premium for his 20 minute films. He worked fast with a formula, developing a signature style that became the West Coast look which propagated throughout adult film in the 1980s. (This lot features actors George Conover, Rex Wolfe, Lee Marlin, Rusty Evans, Jeff Hunter, Clay Russell, and John Towers. Nova Studio sold these magazines, which are really just catalogs for the films, for $8.50-$12.50, another stroke of brilliance. A scarce collection in such nice condition.
