Features striking black-and-white reproductions of Quaintance drawings, paintings, print ads, and photographs. Introductory essay by Volker Janssen with German translation at back. Includes two badly written essays, one unattributed, the other by Tora Lilstrom from 1956. Very little biographical information about an artist who paved the way in gay fantasy illustration for gay artists like Etienne and Tom of Finland, but fun facsimiles of Quaintance advertisements, and stunning images of his idealized bodies accentuated by black-and-white. Scarce in the trade.
