Fine quarto, red cloth with maroon leather back strip, gold and black title to spine, embossed black image to front cover, red gilt to top. Very Good black slipcase with gold title sticker and black lettering, slight bumping to tips, soiling to bottom (perhaps light-colored paint). Original monthly newspaper January 1975, number 483 in cream envelope between front pastedown and front free endpaper, 285 pp. Twenty-five wood engravings by Reynolds Stone, an English artist specializing in wood engraving and lettering. Selected and introduced by John D. Rosenberg. A collection of richly imaginative and emotionally profound verses that capture the timeless struggles of the human spirit between doubt and faith, progress and tradition, despair and hope.

The Limited Editions Club was founded by publisher George Macy in 1929 with goal of delivering a monthly fine press edition of great works in literature, religion, history, philosophy, and poetry. The press worked with some of the best printers in the US and Europe, and sought the best artists to illustrate runs of 1500 or 2000 copies.
