Near Fine octavo, 9 1/4" x 8 3/4", hardcover in natural wood veneer boards with undyed fawnskin backing, and a wooden title label to spine with black lettering and small red illustrations. Light wear to top edges and head, and light sunning to spine. Very Good+ light brown slipcase, wooden title label to spine with black lettering and small red illustrations, some sunning and light shelf wear with some white marks, possibly from the paint from a shelf to the bottom edge. 

This eleven-chapter book explores the variation of American Indian Legends, from the world's beginnings and origins, to stories of heroics, romance, magic, and monsters. Accompanied by thirty-seven illustrations and a title-page spread, most printed with three to four colors, by artist Everett Lee Jackson. Includes an Introduction by naturalist and Native American life expert Allan A. Macfarlan. Signed by Jackson on the copyright page. Original glassine is present in Good condition. Monthly newsletter, number 418, is present in Near Fine condition with only small creases. 

The Limited Editions Club was founded by publisher George Macy in 1929 with goal of delivering a monthly fine press edition of great works in literature, religion, history, philosophy, and poetry. The press worked with some of the best printers in the US and Europe, and sought the best artists to illustrate runs of 1500 or 2000 copies.
