Sinclair Lewis was an American novelist, playwright, and social critic, known for his sharp satires of middle-class life and institutions. Grant Wood was an American painter best known for his iconic work American Gothic and for capturing the spirit of rural Midwestern life through a distinctly Regionalist style. A satirical novel that critiques the conformity, materialism, and narrow-mindedness of small-town America through the story of Carol Kennicott’s struggles to bring change to the community of Gopher Prairie.

The Limited Editions Club was founded by publisher George Macy in 1929 with goal of delivering a monthly fine press edition of great works in literature, religion, history, philosophy, and poetry. The press worked with some of the best printers in the US and Europe, and sought the best artists to illustrate runs of 1500 or 2000 copies.
