Linhares, a full-page black-and-white photo of the artist, a 10-page segment of the artist's own commentary on his work and process, Plates, each including first-person commentary by the artist, an Exhibition Checklist, and Biographical Notes. This catalog was published in conjunction with a retrospective of the artist's work held at the Oakland Museum of California August 2 to December 28, 2003. Fred Martin (1927-2022) was a celebrated member of the Bay Area art scene as an artist, but also as a writer, educator, and arts administrator associated most closely with the Beat era, and Bay Area Abstract Expressionism. This catalog serves as both exhibition of an historically important and still vibrantly relevant artist, but also as a continued conversation on the art itself in the words of its creator. Acquired from the private library of photorealist, Robert Bechtle and art historian, Whitney Chadwick. Heavy and oversized items may require additional shipping.
