First Printing, Very Good black cloth-covered boards, gilt lettering on spine. Covers have light rubbing and slight wear to extremities, else pristine and intact, binding tight. Very Good orange, black, and white paper dust jacket, black lettering on orange spine. Dust jacket has light age toning, spots of surface chipping on spine, slight wear to extremities, and two closed tears at top and bottom edges of front panel (1" and 3/4," respectively), else clean and intact, not price-clipped. Dust jacket protected in a paper-backed Mylar sleeve. Front pastedown has a few marks and pages have light age toning, else pages clean and intact. An autobiographical account by Chin Yang Lee (1915-2018), a Chinese-American author, about his time spent in the Shan state of Mangshi (also, Manshih) located at the border between Burma and China. Lee recounts his time working as the first modern secretary for the Sawbwa, or hereditary ruler, of Mangshi.
