Text in Greek and Latin. Very Good multicolored paper-covered boards backed with black leather. Gilt lettering on spine. Covers have chipping to head of spine, light rubbing to front and back, moderate wear along spine, and slight wear to extremities, else clean and intact, binding tight. Pages have light age toning, occasional foxing, and a former owner's bookplate (dated 1859) tipped in on front pastedown, else clean and intact. The classic four-part collection of Socratic dialogues by Plato (c. 427-348 BCE) in which he chronicles the final days of Socrates before the latter's imprisonment, trial, and execution and discusses key philosophical concepts such as justice, piety, corruption, immortality of the soul, and social contract theory.
