Still sturdy and attractive copy in octavo format, measuring 5" x 7" wide and tall, respectively. An all-ages collection of humorous anecdotes and jokes en Francaise. Neither date nor author listed, but published circa 1880s. Red cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering and decorations on front cover. All edges gilt. Rubbed gilt lettering to spine; quite lovely black and burgundy lettering and illustrations to boards and spine. Covers and spine have darkening, several small dampstains and marks on back, discoloration, some wear to inner hinges, splitting to gutter of rear paste-down, and fading to gilt edges, else clean and intact, binding tight. Pages clean and intact except for age toning. 493 pp.
