A beautiful catalog about the _Commune by the Great Wall_, a project that showcased examples of contemporary architecture in China and the twelve Asian architects who designed them. The front cover also describes the project as thus: "A private collection of contemporary architecture exhibited at the 2002 la Biennale di Venezia, awarded by a special prize. Its exhibition model has been collected by the Centre Pompidou, Paris, as its first permanent collection from China." _Commune by the Great Wall_, as indicated by the front cover's text, won the 2002 Venice Biennale's "Special Prize." The project was composed of twelve buildings designed by twelve different architects. Each of the buildings was perched on the hillsides near the Great Wall of China. The architects were Gary Chang (Hong Kong), Shigeru Ban (Japan), Cui Kai (China), Rocco Yim (Hong Kong), Chien Hsueh-Yi (Taiwan), Antonio Ochoa (China), Kengo Kuma (Japan), Kanika R'kul (Thailand), Kay Ngee Tan (Singapore), Nobuaki Furuya (Japan), Yung Ho Vhang (China), and Seung H-Sang (South Korea).
