A fascinating catalog of ikebana, or the Japanese art of flower arrangement, by Tamura Suiko (1908-?). Tamura, born Tamura Ryutaro, was a Japanese ikebana artist. His flower arrangements span a diversity of styles; some are relatively traditional while others are avant-garde and modern. For example, one of his arrangements is a metaphorical critique of war and shows a barren, austere arrangement of two separated camphor tree limbs representing two countries at war. Tamura was influenced by Zen Buddhism and Western art movements such as Cubism, Realism, and Surrealism.
