Excerpt from the preface: "Each of these tales of wonder is a quest, and what is found is far different and far more strange than what is sought. The first is the story of Alberic and his endless search for wisdom. ... The second, _She Cries No More_, is the story of a boy who has no illusions and a sad princess who has no kingdom. ... The last, _Two Kings_, is the story of the richest monarch in the world, and the poorest." Norton Juster (1929-2021) was an American author, professor, and architect. Juster taught architecture and environmental design at Hampshire College from 1970-1992. As a writer, he received critical acclaim for his children's literature including famous titles such as _The Phantom Tollbooth_ (1961) and _The Dot and the Line_ (1963). Domenico Gnoli (1933-1970) was an Italian painter and stage designer. Gnoli frequented New York City, where he worked for major magazines such as _Sports Illustrated_ and _Fortune_.
