This is the premier issue of "Tattootime Magazine", a semi-annual magazine about the art of tattooing and tattoo artists. The magazine was founded by notable tattoo artist Don Ed Hardy (b. 1945) and his longtime friend, Ernie Carafa. Hardy is noted for being a pioneer of modern tattoo art and for helping to introduce Japanese tattoo aesthetics in American tattooing. In this issue are discussions about tattoo culture, tattooing traditions in Borneo and Hawaii, the swastika in art, social reactions to people with tattoos, names and lettering in tattoos, tattoo collectors, a spotlight on tattoo artist "Sailor Jerry," and an interview with tattoo artist Paul Rogers. Also includes some local (San Francisco and Bay Area) tattoo shop advertisements.
