Very Good octavo, 8 3/8" x 5 7/8", hardcover in decorative paper boards with cloth tan backing, black title labels to spine with white lettering, gilded top edges, and green square bookplates to front endpapers from previous owner, Lillian McLean. Volume One: Minor wear to tips and edges, small crease to title label on spine, crease to top corner of pages vii-viii, and rough cut to pages 223-226. [vii] + xxix 408 pp. Includes Books I-V and portrait illustrations of Fyodor Pavlovich, Miusov, Grushenka, Grigory, Lise, and Ivan.

Volume Two: Minor wear to tips, small black spot of soiling to front panel, and previous owner's bookplate loose on front endpaper. [viii] 352 pp. Includes Books VI-IX and portrait illustrations of Father Zosima, Alyosha, Kuzma Samsonov, The Little Pole, Perhotin, and, Madame Hohlaov.

Vol 3: Light wear to tips and head, small spot of soiling to front panel, and minor soiling to front endpaper, bookplate, and half title page. Light toning and small speckles to the interior of all three volumes. Good green textured paper slipcase, black title label to spine with white lettering and hand-written limitation number, notable wear with abrasions to slipcase, some chips revealing boards, minor soiling, toning to exterior and interior, pencil writing to a side panel, otherwise, functional and attractive. [viii] 396 pp. Includes Books X-XII, the epilogue, and portrait illustrations of Kolya Krasotkin, Smerdyakov, Katerina Ivanovna, Trifon Borisovich, and Mitya.

Published by notable American printer and typography historian, Daniel Berkely (D.B.) Updike, who founded the Merrymount Press in 1893. Signed and numbered by King to the copyright page.    

The Limited Editions Club was founded by publisher George Macy in 1929 with goal of delivering a monthly fine press edition of great works in literature, religion, history, philosophy, and poetry.
