An interesting edition of this 11th-century French medieval narrative poem, a chanson de geste, that has been rendered by Scottish writer and translator Charles Scott Moncrieff, and is accompanied by the color and gilt illustrations by Italian-American artist and printmaker, Valenti Angelo. This epic poem, which was originally written in Old French, is considered the oldest surviving work of French literature that concerns itself with the deeds of the Frankish leader Roland at the Battle of Roncevaux Pass. Signed by Angelo at the colophon.
