Unpaginated. Includes an Introduction by Mann and an Afterword by Reynolds Price. Replete with 60 lush duotone plates, portraits of Mann's children shot on large format, this from the J. Paul Getty Museum: "A native of Lexington, Virginia, Mann has long examined the tension between her devotion to the region and her awareness of its fraught past. Her photographs pose provocative questions about identity, history, race, and spirituality." Mann's photos earned her some controversy, calling her parenting into questioning. An altogether lovely edition of a profoundly important work in the lexicon of American photographers.
