Published on the occasion of an exhibition that took place from April 19-May 14, 1988 at Gallery Takagi in Nagoya, Japan. The show featured the recent paintings of Shusaku Arakawa (1936-2010), a Japanese Conceptual artist and architect. He worked in various art media including architectural and landscape design, experimental filmmaking, painting, printmaking, and performance art. Much of his work focuses on philosophical concepts and the implications of signs and symbols. He is perhaps best-known for his collaborative projects with fellow artist Madeline Gins. Arakawa and Gins founded the Reversible Destiny Foundation in 2010 which tied into their _Reversible Destiny_ architectural series. Beginning in the 1980s, Arakawa and Gins designed _Reversible Destiny_ architecture, which, according to the artists, were supposed to reverse death through the use of uncanny and unexpected design elements. They worked on this series until 2010. Heavy and oversized items may require additional shipping.
