Sam Hunter (Essay and Curator). Fred Hoffman Fine Art, 1995

Very Good, 4to, 9" x 10." White paper wrappers with color illustration on front cover. Black lettering to spine. Covers have slight wear to edge and tips and a few faint spots on the back, else clean and intact, binding tight. Pages pristine and intact. Replete with black-and-white illustrations of the artist's work. 32 pp., including illustrations. A beautiful catalog published on the occasion of the inaugural show at the Fred Hoffman Fine Art Gallery's new location in Santa Monica. Also coincided with the first exhibition in Los Angeles of George Segal's work. George Segal (1924-2000) was an American painter and sculptor best-known for his art installations depicting life-size, plaster sculptures of people in various environments. He is associated with the Pop Art movement. The artworks in this show were "photo murals," photographs of his signature installations, complete with figures, inspired by the grittier side of New York.
