Author Beaumont Newhall (1908-1993) was an American photography historian, photographer, and curator. He worked at several notable museums, including the Philadelphia Art Museum, the Metropolitan Art Museum, and the Museum of Modern Art, New York and became the director of the George Eastman Museum. Newhall also served in the United States Army Air Force as an interpreter of aerial photos during World War II. Published by Hastings House in collaboration with the George Eastman House.
