A collection of three photo stories, two of which are accompanied by poetic captions, by Charles Wong (b. 1922), a Chinese-American photographer perhaps best-known for his black-and-white street photography of Chinatown in San Francisco. The stories are _Sweet and Sour_, a collection of street photos taken in San Francisco's Chinatown featuring workmen heating tar to roof a building; _The Scale_, a story about a duck reminiscing of his or her journey from having an idyllic life outdoors to being cooked and glazed for consumption; and _A Backward Glance_, which, while not having narrative captions as the previous two stories, may be a story about Eastern-Western relations as most of the people in the photos are white. Introductory text by Dennis Reed, an author, curator, and collector. Acquired from the private library of photorealist, Robert Bechtle and art historian, Whitney Chadwick. Heavy and oversized items may require additional shipping.
