Dust jacket protected in a paper-backed mylar sleeve, not price-clipped. Pages pristine and intact. Includes 62 black-and-white plates of the artist's work. Rare in the trade. 83 pp., including plates. A beautiful presentation of Parisian night photographs by the acclaimed Hungarian-French photographer, Brassai (1899-1984). Empty streets, misty skylines, and lone inhabitants set a mood of quiet solitude and mystery in this night world of the famed city. All of the plates are printed on black paper with a decorative black border. Excerpt from front flap: "Every effort has been made to reproduce the original photographs as they have never been seen in book form before. Produced under the close supervision of Brassai's heirs, the book has been printed in heliogravure in a quality rarely seen these days, giving it an extraordinary and memorable texture. To complete the evocation of the period, the Pantheon edition contains the original introduction by the French writer Paul Morand." Heavy and oversized items may require additional shipping.
