First edition, stated sixth printing, very good hardcover 8vo, 5 7/8" x 8 3/4", quarter bound in light gray cloth with off-white paper over boards, silver gilt vertical title on front panel, silver gilt titling to spine, sunning to covers at bottom and top, faint transfer of jacket design to front panel, sharp tips, bright, tightly bound and unmarked throughout. Fine off-white pictorial dust jacket featuring a black design and titling to front and spine, and a black-and-white photograph of artist to back, now protected in a paper-backed Mylar sleeve. 228 pp. Excerpt from dust jacket: "Indeed, the twelve stories in this book constitute a kind of grammar of that feathery language only the heart ever hears, and only at four o'clock in the morning.
