Notes: This copy is unique, being a gift-copy dated from Juleo of 1949 and Compania Sud-Americana de Explosivos: fabrica de Rio Loa, and with 44 employee names in type-script and then in signature! Stain at rear panel intruding backwards at page bottoms, disappearing, and never intruding on text. Handle with some care, as this unusual volume's printed, illustrated card stock wraps are beginning to separate from text-block, but still pretty solid given its size and heft. Good candidate for a simple glue-repair. Some tearing to and separation of a range of pages at rear. Black-and-white illustrated wraps are in gate-fold and feature a stunning visage of a snow-capped mountain, one of several score fine numbered, captioned plates in monochrome and duotone by the Austrian photographer Robert Gerstmann depict the Chilean countryside periodically blasted to extract mineral and other wealth. Appears to be gift from the employees to the widow of a manager "Dalman." Edition not stated, but presumably a First Edition. 64 pp. of Spanish language text by Gerstmann, then 280 captioned and numbered photogravure. Colophon notes a publication date of 1932 and printing at the press of Braun et Cie. Primarily Spanish, but German, French and English texts too.
