Conceptual art book featuring Claes Oldenburg's immersive installation artworks that also doubled as performance art, The Store (1961) and Ray Gun Theater (1962). The Store featured readymade objects meant to evoke commercial products one might find in a retail store; Oldenburg's store included such items as cigarettes, lingerie, and hamburgers. Ray Gun Theater also included readymades and involved interactive experiments and tests performed by Oldenburg. Included herein are images of the two artworks and many extracts of Oldenburg's thoughts and other documentation of the installations.
