The exhibition featured the "femmages" made by Miriam Schapiro between 1971 and 1985. Schapiro used the word, "femmages," to describe her collages made of fabric. Miriam Schapiro (1923-2015) was a Canadian-American artist. She made paintings, sculptures, prints, and textile art. She was one of the leading figures of the feminist art and Pattern and Decoration movements. Acquired from the private library of photorealist, Robert Bechtle and art historian, Whitney Chadwick.
