Beautiful catalog of paintings by Jian Wang made during his first decade in the United States. The paintings depicted herein show still lifes, landscapes, and portraits. Jian Wang (b. 1958) is a Chinese painter. He began to pursue art professionally after he had met Marjorie Francisco at the Dalian Railway Institute. Francisco, a former Sacramento-based art teacher, encouraged him to further his artistic studies in the U.S. and sponsored a trip for him to go there. In 1986, Jian arrived in the U.S. He took courses from Fred Dalkey at Sacramento City College and also learned from other noted California artists such as Manuel Neri and Wayne Thiebaud at the University of California. He has had exhibitions in the U.S. and China and currently works in California and Beijing.
