Fine beige folio with paper-covered patterned boards backed with red-orange cloth, blue graphic of "T" and "C" to covers, blue paper spine label with black lettering on spine. tips have minimal bumping, else pristine and intact, binding tight. Original tipped in frontispiece Wayside Laundry, a black-and-white woodblock print by Chadwick. Replete with in-text illustrations in black-and-white and color and tipped-in black-and-white facsimile woodblock reproductions. Original engraved woodblock printed by Simon Lawrence at Fleece Press. Text in English by Julian Francis, collector of the Grosvenor School of Modern Art works. A monograph about the life and career of British printmaker Tom Chadwick (1912-1942) and the Grosvenor School of Modern Art, a hot bed of British art and printing activity leading up to WWII. Chadwick studied under the School's founder, Scottish wood engraver Iain Macnab. Sadly, Chadwick's life was cut short when he was killed in the Battle of El Alamein during World War II as a member of the 3rd Hussars. A stunning collection of his works in excellent condition.
