Librarian and historian Erika Esau says Der Querschnitt was “lightheartedly snobbish, the magazine’s inclusion of works by anyone who was anybody in the Weimar period and its unorthodox graphic and literary style qualifies it as an avant-garde publication.” The magazine was published until 1936. This issue features articles about film, theater, and culture by notable poets, playwrights, writers, and other historical figures. The following are listed as the contents: “Hollywood von hinten” by Svend Gade, “Filmdiven” by Victor Wittner, “Carl Sternheim, der Mensch und Erzieher” by Carlhans Sternheim, “Die hundert Familien” by Karl Tschuppik, “Margarethe Freifrau v. Coburg (Heiratsvermittlung)” by Matheo Quinz, “Grabrede des Clowns auf Vater Knie” by Carl Zuckmayer, “Genealogie der Familie Knie” by Signor Saltarino, “Zur Metaphysik des Clowns” by Karl Wolfskehl, “Im Winter” by Stephane Mellarme, “Die Frau im Orient” by Erna Pinner, “Die Tanzerinnen Agyptens” by Alda Grafin Strachwitz, “Die Hetaren von Tunis” by Prinz Max zu Hohenlohe, and “Le Pachte Kellogg au Pantheon” by Jean-Michel Pal.
