Edmund Rubbra (1901-1986) was an English composer. He had a long and prolific career and showed a musical aptitude at an early age. Rubbra composed a variety of music including symphonies, vocal music, and chamber music. Rubbra became a lecturer at Oxford University where he taught from 1947-1968. He was well-respected in his time and was even asked to compose a piece of music by BBC for the coronation of Queen Elizabeth II, which he titled, _Ode to the Queen_.
