White lettering on front panel and spine of dust wrapper. Pristine and intact except for minuscule bumping to tips. Dust wrapper clean and intact but has slight rubbing and edge wear. 222 pp., including many full-color plates. A comprehensive catalog featuring the artworks of Gertrudis Chale (1898-1954), an Austrian painter who was based in Argentina. Chale fled Europe in 1934 after the rise of fascism and found refuge in South America. She began her work in Argentina but eventually traveled to other South American countries including Bolivia, Peru, Ecuador, Uruguay, and Brazil. She received many accolades in her lifetime and became well-known for her paintings of the Indigenous Peoples of South America.
