Gilbert & George are a collaborative art duo whose members are Gilbert Prousch (or, Proesch; b. 1943) and George Passmore (b. 1942). They are perhaps best-known for their performance art and for their monumental photo-based artworks known as _The Pictures_. Many of the artworks created by the duo carry messages of social activism.
