About Gilbert & George's thirty charcoal-on-paper sculptures made from 1970-1974. Published on the occasion of the exhibition, _Charcoal-on-Paper Sculptures_, which showed from May 9- September 7, 1986 at the CAPC musee d'art contemporain de Bordeaux. Gilbert & George are a collaborative art duo whose members are Gilbert Prousch (or, Proesch; b. 1943) and George Passmore (b. 1942). They are perhaps best-known for their performance art and for their monumental photo-based artworks known as _The Pictures_. Many of the artworks created by the duo carry messages of social activism.
