Biographies are in Czech only, with the rest of the book featuring translations in Czech, English, German, French, Italian, and Spanish. A valiant effort to catalog the working artists of Czechoslovakia in the 1980's. From the Introduction (English translation): "...Czech graphic art has kept up its inimitable reminiscences of various artistic trends of the 20th century - new objectivity, surrealism, cubism, symbolism, pop art, new figuration, postmodernism - rarely in an eclectic way, but mostly in a new personal revision, with a typical measure of discipline, intellectual playfulness, lyrical contemplation and reverie." An important text for students, professionals, and enthusiasts alike. Heavy and oversized items may require additional shipping.
