Near Fine 2-volume hardcover set in black cloth and red cloth, both have multi-color speckled text-block edges. Slight cocking to spine of The War of the Worlds. Beautifully produced book that places the stunning illustrations of American artist, illustrator, and known collaborator of Ray Bradbury, Joe Mugnaini, alongside the work of seminal English science-fiction novelist, H.G. Wells. Original glassines present with some toning and light wear. Very Good ochre-yellow slipcase, some sunning and light soiling. The Monthly Newsletter is present and laid-in with light toning. The Limited Editions Club was founded by publisher George Macy in 1929 with the goal of delivering a monthly fine press edition of great works in literature, religion, history, philosophy, and poetry. The press worked with some of the best printers in the US and Europe, and sought the best artists to illustrate runs of 1500 or 2000 copies.
