Good light gray cloth over boards, silver gilt lettering stamped to cover and spine, bumped bottom of spine, lightly cocked, previous bookseller's price tag ghost on first free endpaper, 'as-is' note: binding splitting at gutters between several of the signatures likely caused by forcing flat, otherwise pages are clean, intact, and unmarked throughout. Very good pictorial dustjacket featuring the 1994 image, 'Kelly Stewart, New York City, June 28, 1994' to cover, gray lettering to front, dark gray lettering to gray spine and black to interior flaps, showing no chips or tears and protected by a paper-backed mylar sleeve. Unpaginated, replete with full-color and black-and-white images of the work of Yasuhiro Wakabayashi, the celebrated Japanese-American fashion, portrait, and still-life photographer known as Hiro. Includes an introductory note by Hiro, and an Afterword by internationally recognized editor and designer of illustrated books, Mark Holborn. This book was edited by world-renowned fashion photographer, and Hiro's studio mentor, Richard Avedon. From the dustjacket: "Hiro was...the most technically advanced photographer of his time, adept at layering imagery in a single frame long before the arrival of the computer...Much of this mysterious world of Hiro from an album cover for the Rolling Stones to a microscopic still life, has been photographed on a seashore that looks like the edge of the world and grants the works a metaphysical air. It is a world marked by Hiro's dreams of technology and space."
