Notes: Very Good, First Edition, SIGNED, Limited Edition, one of 5000 copies, 8vo, 9 1/4" x 6." Text in Czech. Perfect bound, starting to loosen but still intact. Black paper wrappers with red, white, and black illustration on front cover by Vojtech Kubasta. Protected in mylar sleeve. Covers have bumped tips and discoloration on back and upper-right corner on front, else clean and intact. Pages browned, else clean and unmarked. Signed by the author in bottom margin of frontispiece: "M. B. Styblo." 45 pp. (listed as Pages 15-45), including one black-and-white frontispiece portrait of the author. A collection of poems by Czech actor and writer Maximilian Bedrich Styblo (1892-1972) and the seventeenth book in the "Volna tribuna" series. Excerpt from book dealer Richard L. Press: "Printed at a small private press at a time when most presses were controlled by the Nazis. ... Front cover illustrated by Vojtech Kubasta ... An early work by this famous Czech pop-up book artist." Vojtech Kubasta (1914-1992) was a Czech artist, illustrator, and architect. He received international acclaim as a designer of pop-up books.
