Published on the occasion of a retrospective of Howardena Pindell's work from 1972-1992. Howardena Pindell (b. 1943) is an African-American artist, curator, and professor who is perhaps best-known for her semi-abstract paintings and mixed-media works that often explore subjects related to racial identity, women's rights, and the history of slavery. Also integral to Pindell's work is the exploration of artistic elements, such as textures and colors, and the process of art-making. Includes essays by different authors, reminisces by Pindell, and chronologies by Lornia Simpson and Georgia Coopersmith. Heavy and oversized items may require additional shipping.
