The show featured the paintings and writings of Jay DeFeo (1929-1969), an American mixed-media artist whose works have spanned a variety of art disciplines including painting, sculpture, drawing, photo-collage, collage, and jewelry. She is perhaps best-known for her monumental painting, _The Rose_. The paintings depicted herein feature a predominantly monochromatic color palette of blacks, whites, and grays and are Abstract Expressionist in style.
