Brown cloth-covered boards in a white dust jacket. Black-and-white illustration on front panel. Gilt decoration on front cover. Gilt lettering to book spine. Black lettering to dust jacket spine. Covers have slight fading along edges and occasional tiny marks, lightly bumped tips, slightly warped text block, else intact, binding tight. Former owner’s ink inscription on first page. Dust jacket protected in Mylar sleeve, age-toned, several small tears and creases along top and bottom edge, and a few small marks on front and back. Bottom corner of front flap clipped. Pages clean and intact. Replete with black-and-white, tipped-in collotype plates done in facsimile. Unpaginated, contains 41 facsimile plates. Front colophon: "This volume, containing 41 reproductions of brush drawings by Julius Bissier, was planned shortly before the death of the artist and is now published in a limited edition of 1,100 numbered copies. This copy is number E 71." Julius Bissier (1893-1965) was a German painter best-known for his abstract, biomorphic ink paintings. Bissier was inspired by Chinese ink paintings and Eastern philosophy. A beautiful showcase of his paintings.
