Very Good black-and-white pictorial wraps featuring a photograph of Lisa Lyon to the front cover, another to the back panel, black and white lettering to the front, black and white lettering to sunned spine, minor sunning and toning to spine and edges of wraps, very light bumping to tips, else clean, tightly bound, and unmarked throughout. Replete with over 100 of Robert Mapplethorpe's (1946-1989) striking black-and-white photographs of famed bodybuilder Lisa Lyon. Also includes an introduction by celebrated English travel writer, novelist and journalist Bruce Chatwin (1940-1989).

Lisa Lyon (1953-2023) won the first International Federation of BodyBuilders Women's World Pro Bodybuilding Championship in 1979. Aside from Robert Mapplethorpe, Lisa posed for Playboy, and modeled for Helmut Newton, Joel-Peter Witkin, and Marcus Leatherdale.

From Bruce Chatwin's introduction: "The photographer and his model have conspired to tell a story of their overlapping obsessions. Their glorification of the body is an act of will, a defiance of nihilism and abstraction, a story of the Modern Movement in reverse."
