Notes: The Works of Kung-Sun Lung-Tzu with A translation from the parallel Chinese original text, critical and exegetical notes, punctuation, and literal translation, the Chinese commentary, prolegomena, and index. Printed in Hongkong. Near Fine 4to 10 1/2" x 7 1/8", textured paper tan boards over textured light brown backstrip, minimal soiling to panels, heavy age-toning to endpapers, bottom corner pastedown starting to detach from board, otherwise tightly bound, internally clean. xxiii + 160 pp. including index and references.According to the author: "This book is the first complete translation of what remains of Kung-sun Lung-Tzu's writings. More than 50 years ago, the well-known German sinologist, Prof. Alfred Forke, made an incomplete translation of this work by 3rd Century philosopher, Kung-Sun Lung-Tzu. which was, in spite of its many shortcomings at that time, an astonishing achievement. Dr. Derk Bodde translated certain parts of Kung-sun Lung within the frame of Fung Yu-lan's History Of Chinese Philosophy. His interpretation of Kung-sun Lung's writings is far more accurate than that of Forke". This was the basis of Perleman's complete translation of the surviving works of Kung-Sun Lung-Tzu, who was the author many puzzled-over paradoxes in the dialectical tradition. The author also notes that finding these manuscripts and reference materials in Communist China was extremely challenging. Scarce book by a passionate scholar who took the utmost care to save valuable ideas.
