A charming and hilarious fictional story about the time when Ranjitsinhji's 9,000 elephants visited the California bookstore, Serendipity Books. Ranjitsinhji (1872-1933) was an Indian maharaja and cricketer who supposedly kept 9,000 elephants. Presented as a picture book with brief text and illustrations made from sketched drawings. Peter Howard, who was the owner of Serendipity Books, makes a special appearance. Excerpt from printed text on back: "This facsimile of a manuscript volume by Ian Jackson and Ann Arnold is published by Serendipity Books in an edition of 500 copies in November 1996." Serendipity Books was founded by Peter Howard in the 1960s. It was located in Berkeley, California. Sadly, Howard passed away in March 2011 and Serendipity Books closed in September of that year. Heavy and oversized items may require additional shipping.
