Very Good quarto, hardcover brown leather portfolio case in the Jugendstil style, with stamped black and gilt decorative illustrations and stamped gilt lettering to front panel, blind stamped lettering to back panel, and three decorated interior flaps to hold laid-in title page and eight blue boards with tipped-in plates. Some white spots and soiling to exterior, minor wear to edges, tips, and hinges of the interior flaps, toning to the hinges of interior flaps. Some toning to edges of boards, light soiling to title page, minor wear to boards, small loss to one plate, another plate has small chip to top right corner and was detached with small tear to corner, but has been repaired, one plate has minor chipping to pigment at edges, and small areas of rubbing. These hand colored prints are set designs from the 1882 musical drama Parsifal by German composer and theater director Richard Wagner. Each board includes the same text as the title page. These are the first authorized color reproductions of these stage pictures from the Bayreuth Festival Hall. Designs are by Paul von Joukovsky and the brothers Max and Gotthold Brückner for the Hall. Including the design for the Hall of the Grail featured in acts one and three. Rare in the trade.
