Robert Elgood (Editor), Islamic Arms and Armour. Scolar Press, 1979, Near Fine first edition hardcover.

A Fine book in a Near Fine dust wrapper. Brown cloth binding with gilt lettering on the spine. 13” x 10.” 252 pp. Many illustrations in black-and-white and color. Pages and covers are virtually pristine and intact. Binding is tight. Small former owner notation in black pen on front pastedown. Dust wrapper has black text on a white spine, very clean and intact overall, but has some mild age toning and slight creasing on the front and back panels and flaps. Also two copies of an advertisement laid in measuring 12 ½” x 9” that fold out into six panels (three panels printed on front and back). A stunning book about the history and craft of Islamic weapons and armor from the eighth to the nineteenth centuries. From the front flap: “...a collection of essays by the world’s leading authorities in their respective fields. It enables them to present their most detailed and recent investigations into matters as varied as technical aspects of Islamic metallurgy, armour inscriptions, the structure of bows, and Iranian daggers.”
